We had a blast last night! First off, this was my first concert after moving to St. Louis and the crowd wasn't bad. At least not as bad as the Chicago crowd from last year, but that's a different story...
Hayden opened and our crew had a split decision as to whether or not we liked him - some of us did and some didn't but either way, the music was unobtrusive and fairly pleasant so too much complaining shan't be done.
Then Leslie came out and blew us all away. She first did the whole a-capella loop thing behind a translucent screen that was back lit. Despite a brief coughing jag after just a couple of songs, she sounded great as always(and looked great as always as well).
The setlist was pretty standard - it included a few off-beat tracks like solo versions of "Anti-Pioneer" (is that what the song goes by these days?) and "F--ked Up Kid" and ended with a lovely rendition of "Let it Die".
The band was in great form, never missing a beat and letting Leslie shine. The show clocked in a little short, but I assume that's because of Leslie's cough.
After the show, we waited around in the parking lot with a few others for Feist to come out and she was happy to pose for pictures and sign everything we stuck in front of her and didn't take offense to my friend saying that she touched his butt. She was wonderful to meet.
The show was a blast! For having a hoarse throat Leslie still sang well and her commentary was great. Please come back soon Feist!
I was really embarassed by the rude behavior of the crowd during Hayden's opening... it made me want to hide my face and groan.
That said, great show! Feist's voice is so powerful and lusty, even when she had a cough. The shadows in the background where really quirky and reminded me a lot of the "one evening" video. I wonder if the same person did them? The band was fantastic-lots of them switching up their instruments and showing how talented they are. Also, the lead guitar (who was right in front of me) was very handsome!
I loved Mushaboom; it is such a sweet little song. I wish Secret Heart would have been included, but I understand that this is the tour for her current album and it wouldn't make sense to include lots from Let It Die. Feist, you are beautiful! Lots of love from the Midwest!
