This snowy red and green candle flicker time of year gives a time out of time feeling... an MC Escher repetition of Decembers that all touch each other and overlap. Totemic objects are brought out of shoeboxes to decorate the edges of the room, the sense of touching what your long-gone loved ones may have touched years ago.

Gonzo and I wrote a song about my own and only real tradition... making a garland on the stairs, covering it in the years’ collection of homemade whatevers. The snow muffling the sounds from outside, the warmth of chosen people and the room the people are in. Some years it’s aspirational to aim at feeling good and other years the bar is raised, but all the Decembers still touch. The song and its video came out yesterday.
